Organizing Your Garage To Help Your Home Show Better

An organized garage can be important in the sale of your home. A organized garage not only looks neater but, it can make the garage look bigger. Bigger garages are very appealing to buyers not only for their cars, but for storage as well. I know that is the first thing my husband looks at when we have looked at homes.

Here are some tips to help you organize your garage:

  • De-clutter, de-clutter, de-clutter!!!!! I can't say this enough. Take all of the boxes out of the garage and get rid of stuff, have a garage sale, or store it in temporary storage. Take the bikes off of the ceiling to make the ceilings look higher. Throw away paint cans and oil cans at the appropriate places but get them out of the garage. Take things off of the walls and out of the corners.

  • If you cannot remove certain items, get a storage unit and make it look organized. Put like items together on shelves and in storage cabinets. Be prepared for the buyers to ask for the shelving units and storage units.

  • Paint the garage a nice white color if you have finished walls. There is nothing better then an organized, clean, and painted garage.

  • Clean the floors of the garage. This is a good time to give it a power wash to get rid of all the grim.

  • Take down the parking balls from the ceilings.

Garages are often an area that sellers forget about when they are selling their home but, they have become important to buyers. It is very important to make your home stand out to buyers and make everything look clean and organized, including your garage.
